These Greek turkey burgers may not look like much, but I am SO excited to share this recipe! cWhen you cook these guys up your whole kitchen will smell absolutely amazing.
Besides the amazing depth of flavor that these patties have, I love them for their convenience. You can make a big batch of this patty mixture, form the patties, wrap the raw patties in saran wrap, throw them all in a freezer bag and store in the freezer until you’re ready to cook them later that week. You can cook them from frozen and they taste just as good as cooking them fresh.
Here are some fun ways to serve your Greek Turkey Burgers…
On a bun…’cause it’s a burger. I guess this would be the most obvious serving suggestion. Put these tasty burgers between two toasted buns. Can’t go wrong with that! I’m a big believer of fancy burgers though, so I have lots of suggestions when it comes to how to top this burger: butter lettuce, thick sliced tomato, hummus or tzatziki sauce, red onion rounds, thin sliced cucumber… Sorry, had to take a break to wipe the drool away. 😉 So many tasty options for burger toppings!
In a Greek bowl. I’m talkin’ Cava style. I apologize if you’ve never been to Cava and don’t get this reference. But, it’s totally ok if you don’t. We’ll just move on from the reference and I can tell you how I envision your future with this awesome Greek bowl…
- Start with your bowl base—rice, cauliflower rice, and/or salad greens
- Next, your protein—these turkey burgers
- Some more protein?—chickpeas!
- Some colorful toppings—cucumbers, red bell peppers, black olives, red onion, sprouts, fresh herbs
- Make it saucy—tzatziki sauce, hummus, Greek vinaigrette, red wine vinegar
- Voila! The perfect Greek bowl!
On your usual salad. ‘Cause it’s an easy way to change up your go-to salad!
Greek Turkey Burgers
Ingredients
- 2 lb ground turkey (94% lean)
- 3/4 cup red onion, finely diced
- 1/3 cup crumbled feta
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all ingredients except the ground turkey. Mixing all of the ingredients before adding the turkey will keep the turkey from being over-mixed, which could make your burgers too tough.
- Using a fork, fold ground turkey into your wet mixture until well incorporated.
- Bring skillet to medium heat, then grease with cooking spray.
- Scoop out meat using an ice cream scoop and release the patty onto the hot skillet. Use the back of your fork to flatten the meat into a patty.
- Cook for about 5 minutes on the first side, then flip to the other side and cook for another 5 minutes until cooked through. Cook time will depend on the thickness of your patties. The internal temperature should reach 165°.
